nNovia to Launch DVR and DV Product Lines
By Elina Shatkin, August 29, 2003

nNovia Inc., the innovative Silicon Valley OEM manufacturer of professional Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) and other complimentary DV products, announced today that the company is launching a new series of products under its own brand name. To date the company has focused on engineering, technology development, and private-label turn-key products, offering solutions that have been integrated into the product lines of other manufacturers. The new nNovia product line will address needs of professional video and broadcast, CCTV, AV presentation, and general consumer markets.

The company's initial DVR products are powered by nNovia's patent-pending technology, the SSP-100. It is the first standalone multistream processor designed specifically for managing real time, high bandwidth signals in and out of digital mass storage devices for DVR applications

. The extremely small SSP-100, about the size of a business card, brings a number of advantages to the nNovia product line. For instance, the need for high-power, centralized microprocessors and operating systems is eliminated, reducing overall product cost. The technology is based on a combination of proprietary hardware and firmware for greatly improved reliability over conventional PC-based architectures. Multiple SSPs can be used in parallel for higher bandwidth applications or for products that require a large number of independent video streams. The SSP-100 also enhances flexibility by interfacing with many I/O standards and "conforming" to native formats and signal environments.

In addition to the new nNovia product line, the company will continue to develop and offer its technologies to other manufacturers.
