Filmmakers Converge on Commercial Panel at Cannes

An eclectic mix of cutting-edge filmmakers from around the world are participating in a seminar on June 18 at Cannes Lions, the International Advertising Festival. The discussion, which begins at 15:30 (3:30 p.m.) at the Debussy Theatre at the Grand Palais, will address how breakthroughs in film and hybrid technologies are providing new latitude for creating fresh looks and compelling visual stories
. Panelists include directors Bryan Buckley (Visa, Schwab,
E*Trade), Joe Carnahan (BMW Films), Jonas Akerland (Smirnoff, Spun), and Hype Williams (Nike, MasterCard, Revlon); cinematographers Geoff Boyle (Toyota, McDonalds, British Airways), Franz Lustig (Nike), Thierry Pouget (Playstation, Nestle, Air France); and producer Donna Svanberg from Capitol Productions.

Kodak and Boards magazine are sponsoring the seminar, which will include visual samples of the breakthrough work that the panelists have been achieving in film and digital post-production. Alison Eastwood, editor of Boards, will moderate.
