At a black-tie gathering of photojournalists, Thomson will demonstrate its new Grass Valley Digital Wireless Triax Camera System. The demonstration will take place at the annual White House News Photographers’ Association (WHNPA) gala on Saturday, May 10. Thomson is one of the sponsors of this year’s “The Eyes of History” Gala.
The WHNPA, now in its 82nd year, is a highly successful volunteer organization of photojournalists -- both television and still professionals -- from national and international news organizations
. Its members have garnered dozens of Emmy Awards, Pulitzer Prizes, and other prestigious accolades.
The WHNPA will use multiple Grass Valley wireless systems connected to Grass Valley LDK Series cameras to cover the festivities at The Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. Shown live in two ballrooms to 1,000 guests, these activities include the presentation of the association’s annual awards for the most compelling work in video and still photojournalism.
The wireless systems will also be used to cover the presentation of the WHNPA’s coveted video photographer of the year award -- also sponsored by Thomson -- to Mark Thalman, a 13-year TV photography veteran.
