BTX Introduces Male HD15 Connector
By Staff, September 30, 2003

At Booth 3643 BTX is introducing the CD-HD15MST, a professional high density 15 pin (HD15) male D-sub connector with a rear terminal block connection in place of the usual solder or crimp connection. This innovative design dramatically reduces installation time and cost by eliminating the need for soldering or crimping.

The terminal block contains clearly labeled screw terminals for R, G, B, H, V, and their respective grounds. Each screw terminal comfortably accommodates cable sizes ranging from 18 AWG to 30 AWG. A high resolution five conductor coax cable should be used when wiring the CD-HD15MST as it provides the appropriate number of conductors/shields to terminate the connector.

To terminate the CD-HD15MST, simply cut and strip your cable, insert the conductors into the appropriate screw terminals, and tighten them down with a small flathead screwdriver

. Total termination time is under nine minutes, less than 1/3 the time required for a solder-type connector.

The CD-HD15MST was designed as a result of the response to the CD-HD15FST panel mount female HD15 to terminal block connector. Like the CD-HD15FST, the CD-HD15MST features D-sub hex nuts, which allow it to mate with female cable mount HD15 connectors when mounted in a wall plate or panel. In addition, the CD-HD15MST is packaged with thumbscrews that can be used instead of the hex nuts in instances where the connector must be plugged directly into a piece of equipment.
