Digital Projection International (DPI), a manufacturer of projection systems, announced that Post Logic Studios has chosen the company's iS10 DLP Cinema projection system to support its new end-to-end digital intermediate process-Post Logic Cinema Digital.
Post Logic Studios' digital intermediate services, recently used for digital intermediate color processing on such projects as "Spy Kids 3D: Game Over," encompass telecine, color correction, online assembly, digital intermediate film-out and down conversion from an on-site 1500-square-foot digital theater at the facility's headquarters in Hollywood, CA
. The Digital Projection Cinema-branded iS10 projector has been installed in this space, which also features a 24x10-foot screen and 5.1 stereo surround sound.
The new Post Logic Cinema Digital theater gives clients a "real-world" environment in which to color time and monitor their movies for film or digital cinema release with top industry colorists. Masters for theatrical prints, as well as final files for all digital and electronic release, can be prepped with full-frame, slow-motion and frame-to-frame comparisons using the iS10 projector and a film projector. These new capabilities enable Post Logic Studios -- already a digital mastering destination favored by directors Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes and Francis Ford Coppola and DPs ranging from Vittorio Storaro to Janusz Kaminski -- to offer filmmakers the same level of interaction and control over the look of a theatrical release that has long been enjoyed for creating television, after-market video and DVD versions.
