Filter-maker, Schneider Optics has introduced a set of optically superior filters to replace factory-supplied filters in the two internal filter wheels on Sony HDW-F900 and F950 cameras. The set of eight, features consistent thickness from filter-to-filter to strict tolerances far exceeding the stock set. This filter consistency ensures that backfocus settings will remain constant when changing internal filters -- especially when using wide-angle lenses.
The Schneider set fills the first filter wheel with .6, 1.2, 1.8 (2, 4, and 6 stops) ND's and one precision clear filter
. Schneider ND's are truly neutral gray, free of superfluous color cast.
Cinematographers will appreciate that for the second filter wheel, Schneider provides a 3200°K/.3/ND in place of the stock star filter. The other positions are loaded with Schneider 6300°K, 4300°K, and 3200°K color correction filters.
The HD Filter Wheel replacement filters are made of high-precision optical glass, multi-layer coated at the Schneider factory in Germany to the highest standard.
The U.S. price is $950 for a complete set of eight filters. Professional installation is required and not included. Century Optics will be at NAB, located at booth number C3260.
