Disney announced that it will close its Orlando, Florida-based traditional animation studio. "This difficult decision was based on what is best strategically for our business in both the short and long term," said Walt Disney Feature Animation president David Stainton.
The studio employs more than 250 people, a few of whom will relocate to Disney's Burbank, Calif. animation hub
. Roy Disney, former chairman of the animation department, has criticized the move and Michael Eisner for what he calls the "drain of talent" from the company's feature animation department.
