Turner Studios Debuts 55-Foot HD Production Truck with Help from For-A
By Elina Shatkin, March 16, 2004

Turner Studios’ new all-digital, 55-foot high-definition production truck recently completed its maiden telecast of an Atlanta Hawks basketball game at Philips Arena in HD on February 28 with the help of two standard-definition and two HD color correctors from FOR-A Corp. of America. The truck will help support Turner Entertainment Networks (TEN)’s new HD-only channel, TNT HD channel, which is set to debut on May 17.

On board the truck, which can capture and produce live multi-camera events simultaneously in both SD and HD (including the widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio) resolutions, Turner made extensive use of the FOR-A DCC-700 MU digital color corrector and the DCC-700H MU HDTV color corrector to enhance a variety of incoming feeds to provide the telecast with a consistent look and feel

.

In addition to getting superior SD performance with the DCC-700, Turner is using the FOR-A DCC-700H for high-quality processing of 1920x1035/59.94i
(60i) fps or 1920x1080/59.94i signals. Most of the HD projects completed with the truck will be in the 1080i format.

The Field Operations unit of Turner Studios, which operates the HD truck, is the full service broadcast production division of Turner Entertainment Group, providing turnkey services for film, video and audio production. Turner Studios also provides facilities and resources worldwide for all of the Turner Entertainment Networks.
