Entertainment Media Expo Comes to Hollywood Aug. 31-Sept. 1

Leading artists, creators, producers and executives from the DVD video, music and games industry will converge at Entertainment Media Expo (EMX) -- August 31 - September 1 -- at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, Calif.

EMX is the world's the largest U.S. event dedicated to the production, packaging, manufacturing and archiving of recorded content on DVD and CD for music, video and interactive entertainment - a $110 billion business and the #1 entertainment delivery system.

Leading keynote speakers include actor/producer/director/recording artist Billy Bob Thornton and artist Robert Crumb in exclusive video presentations.. Phil Rosenthal, creator of Everybody Loves Raymond and Netflix founder Reed Hastings are also highlighted speakers

Over 60 conference sessions are scheduled including technical sessions on the next generation, high definition DVD; a director's panel including Mario Van Peebles, Albert Maysles, Eric Bress and Jay Mackye Gruber; a surround sound training workshops by Peter Frampton and Herbie Hancock.

The opening night event on Monday, August 30 is the DVD Entertainment Awards, hosted by Leonard Maltin, celebrating the creative contributions to the DVD medium; this year's DVD Pioneer Award will be presented to director Brett Ratner (Red Dragon).

The 2004 Surround Music Awards (SMAs) will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at The Highlands nightclub in the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel complex. The annual awards show celebrates those innovators who are creating the next wave of musical entertainment, recognizing the best work of the year and paying tribute to the pioneering individuals responsible for pushing the creative envelope beyond stereo recording. This year's event is sponsored by Dolby and will honor jazz legend Herbie Hancock, pop auteur Beck, electronica sensation BT, and audio pioneer Tomlinson Holman for their work in propelling the surround sound format to prominence. A portion of the proceeds will go to Quincy Jones' We are the Future Charity.

The Entertainment Media Expo is being presented by the Media-Tech Association, and is co-sponsored by Surround 2004 producer, CMPinformation as well as International Recording Media Association. Additional contributing sponsors and exhibitors include Apple, Consumer Electronics Association, Digidesign, Denon Electronics, Dolby, DTS, JVC Disk America, Co., Philips, Microsoft, Sonic Solutions and Sony DADC to name just a few. Over 100 exhibitors will be onsight demonstrating and debuting the latest DVD authoring, manufacturing, packaging and production tools.
