Marcomm Group, an integrated marketing communications agency, has appointed Brian McKernan, former editorial director of Videography and founder of Digital Cinema magazine, as Vice President, Account Services. Marcomm Group's clients include leading equipment manufacturers in broadcast television, audio/visual products, networking, security, recreation, telecom, and healthcare. McKernan's duties will include coordination of Marcomm Group's editorial programs and general public relations activities.
A journalist for the past 25 years, McKernan most recently was editor and associate publisher of Digital Cinema magazine, which he founded for United Entertainment Media (now CMP Information) in 2000
. McKernan also served as editor of Videography from 1988 to 1999, a period that saw substantial growth in the magazine's ad pages. From 1995 to 2001 McKernan also served as editorial director of United Entertainment Media's Video Division, which included Videography, Government Video, Television Broadcast (now Digital Television), TVB/Europe, and Content Creation Europe.
McKernan is the co-editor of the book, Creating Digital Content: A Guide to Video Production for Web, Broadcast, and Cinema (McGraw Hill, 2001). His other editorial positions have included television editor of Broadcast Management/Engineering and associate editor at Omni magazine. McKernan is a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE); he lives in Rye NY with his wife and daughter.
