da Vinci Systems announced that its 2K Plus color correction system provides support for Thomson's new Grass Valley brand Spirit 4K DataCine, which handles image resolutions up to 4K.
The Spirit 4K system provides stable and precise multiformat film scanning -- with support for Super 35 mm and Academy 35 mm 3-perf, 4-perf, and 8-perf (VistaVision), as well as Standard and Super 16 mm -- at up to 7.5 frames per second even at 4K data resolution.
Thomson's Spirit 4K system also features a DataCine capability and an improved feature set with an advanced scanning front end that includes a powerful light source, new customized optics developed by Eastman Kodak, and full RGB scanning technology to provide improved image quality. The robust toolset supplied by da Vinci's 2K Plus allows users to make the most of this picture quality and take image enhancement to a new level.
The 2K Plus controls all facets of the Spirit 4K system via a dedicated interface
. SD and HD images can then be enhanced using the wide range of industry features that made the 2K Plus an industry standard. The 2K Plus color enhancement system is an extension of da Vinci's Emmy award-winning 2K product, a real-time color enhancement system with support for multiple standards and resolutions. The 2K Plus provides the latest primary and secondary color correction feature set, along with an enhanced key bus, improved gamma curve adjustment, and isolated defocus using da Vinci's exclusive multiple PowerWindows for the ultimate image enhancement. In addition, the Colorist ToolBox provides individually defocused secondary qualifiers, additional PowerWindows, and special effects filters.
