Spherico releases Playlist2FCP
By Elina Shatkin, October 5, 2004

Spherico has releases Playlist2FCP, which allows for the automated XML transfer of iTunes playlist's into Final Cut Pro.

Playlist2FCP allows users to keep track of their temp music in FCP during editing. By leveraging the power of the Apple Final Cut Pro XML interchange format, Playlist2FCP will seamlessly transport all track, artist and album information from iTunes into Final Cut Pro.

If a user has many different tracks from various albums or artists, Playlist2FCP can help to keep these tracks organized within the FCP project - automatically sorting the iTunes playlist into album or artist bins when the resulting XML file is imported into FCP. Alternatively users can set a custom bin name.

If users rely on iTunes to convert temp music CDs into uncompressed AIFF or WAV files in order to import the music tracks into FCP, Playlist2FCP allows them to either reference the current media files, copy or even move those tracks to their Final Cut Pro media folder or drive, keeping all project media together.
Even custom sound tracks or incomplete track and album information can be handled - Title, Artist, Album and Year can all be edited easily inside Playlist2FCP before creating your XML file

.

Playlist2FCP can be used as a simple droplet to automate the entire process or as a standard application to edit the playlist and fine-tune the conversion to XML. A future version will also support conversion for import into Avid non-linear editing systems.

The software requires a Macintosh computer running Mac OS 10.3.5 and above, iTunes 4.6 and above and Apple Final Cut Pro 4.1 and above. The current version is available "as is" for at introductory price of 10 EUR (incl. German tax) per license until 6th November 2004, thereafter the price is 15 EUR (incl. German tax). All licenses come with a one-year subscription for updates and free tech support. To take advantage of this offer please quote code '2POP-P2F1106' when placing your order. A 30-day trial version is also available for download.
