Sundance Channels Live Studio Powered by Apple
By Elina Shatkin, January 19, 2005

For the first time, the Sundance Channel is running a live studio and edit suite powered by Apple on-location at the Sundance Film Festival.

The Sundance Channel is airing 6 episodes at Sundance from January 24-29 (five 30-minute shows and one 60 minute wrap-up show). The idea is to give their audience an inside glimpse of the Sundance experience.

Actor and comedian, Jay Mohr, will be their in-studio host holding informal discussions on a wide range of topics with actors, producers, and film critics throughout the week

. Meanwhile, the Sundance Channel will have a number of crews in various places following stories as they unfold.

The edit suite will comprise of 11 Final Cut Pro edit systems with Xserve, Xserve RAID and an Xsan. With so much happening so quickly, I imagine they'll be dealing with about 600GB of video footage per day.
