Streamonix Ltd. and MikroM GmbH have agreed to collaborate on D-Cinema IP streaming solutions for the European market. The agreement will allow MikroM to provide the Streamonix SX.224 Caching Video Streamer as part of a full HD and D-Cinema video over IP streaming solution.
As part of the collaboration, the two companies jointly demonstrated the operation of their respective products at NAB. A Streamonix SX.224 successfully delivered 12 independent D-Cinema streams to an array of 12 MikroM MVP114 MPEG-2 decoders, well within the SX.224 capacity of 46 independent D-Cinema streams.
"MikroM are world leaders in MPEG decoding solutions," observed Brad Hankinson, Streamonix CTO and Founder. "Access to the European market is important due to the early adoption of high bandwidth Internet capabilities such as Fiber to the Home (FTTH) and other technologies. This agreement with MikroM will allow our companies to provide a full streaming, receiving and decoding solution for our prospective European customers."
"Partnering with Streamonix is a benefit for both companies," said Holger Krahn, CEO of MikroM. "The Streamonix SX.224 is the world's only IP video streamer that supports multiple D-Cinema streams
. We are very excited about the combined capabilities of the Streamonix video streamer with our decoding products. Video over IP markets are rapidly emerging, and these technologies will allow our content provider customers to offer new and compelling solutions."
The SX.224 architecture flexibly supports the full spectrum of MPEG-2 and H.264 video bit rates, enabling the system to transmit any combination of DVD, HD and Digital Cinema streams to homes, businesses and entertainment centers. This flexibility enables a full array of Video-On-Demand services to a wide range of customers and markets.
The SX.224 supports sustained, multi-Gigabit video over IP bit rates. By precisely metering data rates, the SX.224 ensures that time-critical video and audio information can be successfully streamed over IP networks without late or dropped packets. The distributed, real-time OS supports linear scaling of multiple SX.224 streamers. A single SX.224 can transmit 740 DVD-quality streams, 185 HD streams or 46 Digital Cinema MPEG-2 streams over IP networks. The system's innovative architecture supports a sustained bit rate of 3.7 Gb/s and supports all MPEG-2 and H.264 bitrates up to 80Mb/s per stream. The SX.224 offers the same flexibility for audio streaming: it supports any audio bit rate from low resolution MP3 files to HD studio master recordings.
