IFP/LA Departs IFP Network, Announces Name Change
By Staff, May 10, 2005

Film organization Independent Feature Project/Los Angeles (IFP/LA) has announced a change in name to Film Independent (FIND). The group formerly known as IFP/LA, has 6,300 members covering the spectrum of independent film and decided to redefine the structure of their organization. Since its inception 25 years ago, IFP/LA operated within an informal framework of IFP organizations across the country
.

In the wake of the Los Angeles chapter's departure, IFP/New York will return to its original name, Independent Feature Project effective immediately. The four other IFP chapters (IFP/Chicago, IFP/Miami, IFP/Minneapolis - St. Paul and IFP/Seattle) will continue to be affiliated with the organization and keep their existing names. In addition, two new chapters will be formed: IFP/Austin and IFP/Santa Fe.

The changes will not affect any member benefits or membership dues. FIND will continue to present the Independent Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival (June 16-26).
