HD EXPO completed a two-day private workshop for the national and international departments of National Geographic on July 27 and August 9. The workshop was held at National Geographic headquarters in Washington D.C. in the 300-person theater and the HD-equipped studio.
This specialized workshop was created by HD EXPO to assist National Geographic's transition from Standard Definition to High Definition within its national and international departments
. In addition, on August 9 HD EXPO produced a one-day "mini VariCamp" workshop for NG's production staff, using the Varicam camera. The instructors present were: C.R. Caillouet, Michael Caporale, Tom Fletcher, and Julia Mintz. Special presentations were given by Michael Babbitt and Jim Hilson of Dolby and Jean McCarvill and Dave Allen of National Ministry of Design.
