The Cinesound SFX Library will be put up for negotiated sale on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 by GoIndustry Henry Butcher, auctioneers & valuers.
The Cinesound SFX Library spans decades of British motion picture and world history including sounds from every James Bond film made up to 1996, Zulu, The Italian Job, Lawrence of Arabia, Gandhi, Doctor Zhivago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and countless other classic movies recorded at Pinewood, Elstree and Shepperton studios.
Some of the unearthed collection's most important original sounds include the harrowing recording of the World War 2 bombing of Portsmouth Harbour and Sir Winston Churchill's state funeral.
The library contains approximately 4 million reel-to-reel sound effects from the 1960's onwards
. All are impeccably preserved, from Lawrence of Arabia's horse to James Bond's Aston Martin. Original sounds from "The Saint," "The Avengers" and "Thunderbirds" ensure that television aficionados and film buffs alike will be similarly excited about the sale. Offers in excess of £50,000 are being sought.
