Massive Software, a developer of artificial life-based 3D animation systems, announced a series of artist talks for SIGGRAPH 2006, open to SIGGRAPH attendees at the Massive Software Booth #1023. The line-up includes behind-the-scenes presentations that go inside the techniques used to create stunning Massive shots and scenes on a range of feature film and commercial television projects.
Scheduled speakers include:
Jordi Bares, The Mill, Lynx "Billions"
Tuesday, August 1, 2:00 pm
Jordi Bares and The Mill pioneered epic Massive shots in commercials with the Cannes Lions Grand Prix-winning Playstation "Mountain" ad. This year, Bares shows off the creative magic behind spots such as Lynx "Billions," in which the intoxicating effects of a men's deodorant draw out a mob of beautiful suitors.
Mark Thielen, "The Ant Bully"
Wednesday, August 2, 11:00 am
"The Ant Bully" is a new full-length animated feature released by Warner Bros
. Mark Thielen, Massive Supervisor, will detail how artists at DNA/Helix used Massive to create complex ant colony crowd shots in one of the most innovative uses of Massive to date.
Eric Saindon, WETA Digital, "King Kong" and "X-Men: The Last Stand"
Wednesday, August 2, 2:00 pm
Visual Effects Supervisor Eric Saindon will share examples of Massive work on "King Kong," this year's Best Visual Effects Oscar® award winner. WETA Digital used Massive to create everything from buses, trains, pedestrians and circa-1930s traffic patterns to bats and birds on the movie, and also leveraged Massive for challenging Alcatraz and Golden Gate Bridge sequences in "X-Men: The Last Stand."
Massive Software will additionally be running Massive product demos every hour on the hour during the show. Final presentation line-up and times are subject to change. Please stop by the Massive Booth #1023 during SIGGRAPH for complete information and schedules.
