Front Porch Digital announced the launch of a new version of its content storage management system, DIVArchive 6.0. This new version of DIVArchive features enhancements including broader interoperability with Front Porch Digital's partners' emerging technologies, enhanced performance for network-based API clients, file-system-interface refinements, and clustered database support. The new version will also expand to include a new Avid Interplay interface, which will allow easy and transparent SD and HD content storage expansion for Avid Unity and Avid Interplay-based infrastructures.
DIVArchive allows content owners to create a unified content storage system of near-line disk and data tape libraries, managing content throughout the entire lifecycle: from ingest to long-term preservation. With the optional DIVAdirector content management system, users can search and view content from any desktop, and automatically transcode different formats to provide interoperability between file-based production systems. DIVArchive provides tight workflow integration through proven interfaces with all of the leading broadcast automation and MAM systems.
DIVArchive's Storage Plan Manager (SPM) automatically handles the migration of content between near-line disk and data tape storage
. SPM acts on configurable business rules that monitor when content was last used and how long it has been stored, allowing the design of customized storage policies for each object or group of objects.
Front Porch Content Storage Management Expanding Offering to Support Key Avid Interfaces
Front Porch Digital also announced that DIVArchive is expanding to include an Avid Interplay interface. The new interface within DIVArchive is designed to allow easy and transparent SD and HD content storage expansion for Avid Interplay while continuing to support the proven DET and DHM interfaces for systems that do not include this advanced collaborative tool. Front Porch Digital is under contract to deliver its first installation of the Avid Interplay interface to a major North American broadcaster this quarter.
This new interface will allow access to all content on Avid shared storage, as well as that stored in the DIVArchive CSM system, via the unified Avid Interplay nonlinear workflow engine. Proxies and metadata are kept online in the Avid environment for quick access, allowing the high-resolution content stored in the CSM system to be retrieved as needed. From this unified user interface, content can also be easily copied into the DIVArchive CSM for protection or simply to free capacity on Avid shared storage for other projects.
