At NAB 2007, eCinema Systems announced a completely new monitor line consisting of four major classes of monitors
. More recently, the company announced that every monitor in the new lineup is upgradeable to the next class in performance.
FX-series: Entry level HD/SD monitoring
PRO-series: Professional, critical-viewing monitors
DCM-series: LED-based, high color accuracy, wide gamut displays
DPX-series: High-end, LED-based, wide-gamut, CRT-replacement
In some cases the upgrade is as simple as removing four nuts to swap the imaging engine (LCD included), but upgrades to the DPX-class must be done at the factory.
