Letus Releases 35mm Lens Adapter
By Staff, February 6, 2008

Letus35 Extreme, a 35mm lens adapter for standard- and high-definition video cameras, is now available from Letus Corp. at an introductory price. The Extreme's extraordinary picture quality is due in part to the adapter's custom image condenser. Letus35 Extreme allows filmmakers using SD and HD digital video cameras to exercise complete control over depth of field in crafting a cinematic look.

“We are excited to bring this new adapter to the digital filmmaking community,” says Letus president Hien Le Tu. “The features offered by the Letus35 Extreme are equal to those found on high-end commercial models that are often beyond the budget of an independent filmmaker, yet the Extreme is priced to buy, not rent.”

The addition of a 35mm adapter to a camera typically results in a loss of light measuring over one full stop. Letus35 Extreme addresses this issue with prism technology, resulting in light loss of only a fraction of a stop.

Extreme also offers the ability to flip recorded images right-side up.

“The Extreme is the only adapter in its class that doesn’t require the filmmaker to compensate for an upside-down image,” adds Le Tu. “And the flip technology is contained in the unit itself, so no additional module is required in order to achieve the flip.”

The Letus35 Extreme accommodates multiple lenses, including Nikon and Canon SLR lenses and motion picture lenses from Cooke and Zeiss.

The Letus35 Extreme is being offered at an introductory price of $1,200. This offer includes the adapter, a 35mm lens mount and a mounting bracket that fits a standard 15mm rod system.
