The ICON integrated audio console from Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology, received the Cinema Audio Society (CAS) award for technical achievement at the organization’s 44th annual awards ceremony, held on Feb. 16 in Los Angeles.
The Cinema Audio Society Awards recognize outstanding achievements in sound mixing and sound production technologies for television and feature films. This is the fourth year the Cinema Audio Society presented the Technical Achievement Award, which included two categories: outstanding product used in production and outstanding product used in postproduction.
The Digidesign ICON integrated console took home top honors in the postproduction category.
“We’re exceptionally proud to once again be recognized by such a prestigious group as the Cinema Audio Society—an organization of the very top mixers in working TV and film today,” says Digidesign director of professional console sales Rich Nevens, who was on hand to accept the award.
“Receiving the CAS award is a real testament to the ongoing collaboration between our users and the development and test teams at Digidesign. We’re tremendously thankful for the support of our users worldwide and are proud to play a part in their ongoing success.”
The Cinema Audio Society was founded in 1964, with the mission of sharing information among audio professionals and creating a viable channel of communication between individuals whose efforts play an integral role in the production and distribution of soundtracks in the motion picture and television industries. Its membership includes more than 550 movie, television, and commercial sound mixers working in the fields of production, postproduction, film and video, music scoring, video post sweetening, ADR and foley.
