At NAB, Hitachi will introduce its upgraded SK-HD1000 camera, which has a 60 dB HDTV signal-to-noise ratio at F10.0 and a real-world resolution of 1100 horizontal TV lines. The camera also gains new functions, control panels, CCUs, and other production accessories.
Starting with a new generation of RGB 2/3-inch progressive CCDs, each with 2.2 million pixels, the camera offers 14-bit A/D converters. A 12-vector masking system controls hue and color saturation to tailor reproduction to EBU, SMPTE or any other color standard for HDTV and SDTV separately
. A special gamma function provides fine adjustment of the gamma curve and colors in the darkest potions of the picture to allow film-like image capture.
The new CCU design model CU-HD1000 gives users a choice of fiber or digital triax/coax transmission, as well as an optional cross-converter to make 720p out of 1080i and embedded professional quality digital audio in the HD-SDI outputs. The CCU can accept a front-mounted control panel and uses a full 4 RU high EIA 19-inch rackmount and blank panel since the unit is only 1/2-rack wide.
For customers with SD and HD control rooms, the CCU accepts dual controls, provides both SD and HD formats and its control system is network-ready via the provided RJ45 port. User serial data as when used with a robotic pan/tilt head can also be transported to and from the camera head via the RS232C port on the CCU.
