Front Porch Digital Launches DIVAworks Family
By Staff, April 3, 2008

Louisville, CO -- Front Porch Digital announced the DIVAworks family, a range of plug-and-play content storage and protection solutions. Designed for users in television,
post-production, and other media-related fields, the DIVAworks family offers the essential advantages of the company’s proven DIVArchive technology in a convenient and aggressively priced turnkey solution.

“These DIVAworks solutions are especially appropriate for television and post-production companies who require secure storage for an increasing amount of valuable content, but who are not yet ready to install a larger, more complex solution,” said Rino Petricola, senior vice president and
managing director of Front Porch Digital International. “Our DIVAworks family offers cost-effective and easy-to-install packages that deliver the fundamental archiving capabilities of DIVArchive CSM technology in a solution that readily integrates into any customer’s file-based workflow.”

The DIVAworks family includes best-of-breed IT hardware and is available in three configurations designed to suit a full range of workflows and budgets:

DIVAworks Basic is an entry-level system comprised of a 24-slot datatape library, a single LTO-4 datatape drive, and a Windows-based, single-CPU server running the DIVArchive CSM software. Occupying only 4 RU of rack space, DIVAworks Basic also includes tape externalization and object-transfer utility features.

DIVAworks Enhanced is a middle-level solution comprised of a 48-slot datatape library, dual LTO-4 datatape drives, and two Windows-based, single-CPU servers running the DIVArchive CSM software, offering failure protection and increased system throughput

. Fitting into 9 RU of space, DIVAworks Enhanced also includes DIVArchive manager failover, tape
externalization, and object transfer utility features.

DIVAworks Professional is a scalable and redundant solution occupying only 13 RU of space, with an expandable 50-slot datatape library, dual LTO-4 datatape drives, and two Windows-based, single-CPU servers running the DIVArchive CSM software, offering redundancy and a clear growth path for
ever-expanding file-based storage infrastructures.
DIVArchive manager failover, tape externalization, and object transfer utility features are included.

DIVAworks solutions can be configured with all the required interfaces for major automation, media asset management, post-production, and newsroom systems. The system can be expanded with optional nearline disk storage arrays based on DIVAgrid technology, Front Porch Digital’s Storage Plan
Manager (SPM) for faster access to important content and policy-based content lifecycle control, and Drop Folder Monitoring to allow users and third-party applications to add content to the archive quickly and easily.

In addition, the optional DIVAdirector system provides Web-based access to the DIVAworks system, with flexible metadata support, low-resolution proxy browsing, powerful search tools, frame-accurate shot list creation, full control of DIVAworks restore and delete functionality, and built-in user access control. DIVAworks can be further enhanced with optional timecode-based partial restore support, allowing the restoration of only the required portions of each piece of archived content based on timecode in/out values in a shot list.

Any of the DIVAworks solutions can be easily upgraded to a full DIVArchive content storage management system for customers whose needs expand beyond the capabilities of the DIVAworks family.
