Pictorvision Offers Wireless Control for Cineflex
February 3, 2009

Pictorvision, a leader in stabilized and precision control systems for the entertainment industry, announces the availability of a wireless kit for the Cineflex camera system that allows the camera operator to remotely control the system for use in extreme situations, conditions and installations. The custom Remote Control kit is available for rent exclusively with Pictorvision’s Cineflex HD camera systems.

While shooting footage for the Nordic Championships, Pictorvision’s ingenuity was once again put to the test. Given the extreme situation, Pictorvision technicians designed a system to be used on a snowmobile and operated remotely with an antenna and video microwave link.

“The remote link worked well. Even through the roughest terrain of forest, the remote signal was never lost,” comments Tom Hallman, president of Pictorvision.

“The kit worked great,” adds Chris Chanda of Aerial Camera Operations Ltd. and designer of the snowmobile rig. “The situation worked to our advantage, as the venue had a natural bowl shape and the cross country trails were tiered up the bowl.”

With this newly developed system, Pictorvision’s Cineflex Remote Control package can be used on such installations as camera cars, cranes, boats and snowmobiles—anytime the operator cannot be with the system during operation. With range up to 15 miles (depending on conditions) and a frequency of 2.4-2.483 GHz, license-free band, spread spectrum frequency hopping and error detection technology, the system achieves a very reliable, noise and interference-immune operation. The transmission of the video signal can also be transmitted using any number of standard analog or digital microwave systems.
