Cintel Previews Highlights for NAB 2009
March 2, 2009

Celebrating more than 40 years of continuous attendance at the National Association of Broadcasters exhibition, Cintel International has chosen the event to launch two postproduction solutions: ditto evolution and imageMill2. Cintel will be in booth SL2216 at the show.

Cintel sales director Simon Carter says, “The NAB show is very important to us and our customers; it seems we’ve been exhibiting there since records began! Our customers can’t afford the time to attend different events for different products at different times, so we endeavor to use this high-profile and well-attended opportunity to showcase both our current and new products. At NAB 2009, we are very excited to be launching our new film scanner—diTTo evolution—and a new image processing platform, imageMill2.”

diTTo evolution offers a modular and upgradeable solution to film scanning. Building on the successful elements of the diTTo scanner, including superior image performance, easy to use interface and the D/SCO - Dust/Scratch Concealment option, diTTo evolution additionally provides a fast shuttle capability, non-pin registration mode for archive scanning and a 3.2D density range.

Simon Clark, Cintel’s business development manager, says, “diTTo evolution is a solution to all film scanning needs. It can evolve from a simple-to-use, pin registration scanner for digital intermediate with superb image quality from negative film to a multi-format, non-pin registration machine for shrunken and damaged film, including a 3.2D density range for excellent print film results. A future upgrade to enable oversampled 4K resolution and above will become available.”

imageMill2 is a new image processing platform adding network capabilities and data file management to the existing imageMill capabilities. GRACE, the noise and film grain management tool, will be available at the point of delivery in late 2009 with STEADY, the real-time image stabilization application. A new Dust/Scratch Concealment option will follow later.

Carter adds, “imageMill2 will address the industry's need for a powerful yet simple-to-use noise and grain management tool for digital intermediate applications. imageMill1 will remain available for all customers with real-time SD and HD video or HSDL data workflows. In fact, to help our customers in the current financial climate, we have reduced the price of a fully-configured imageMill1 to £30,000 and will additionally offer interest-free credit terms.”

Cintel will also be demonstrating, at booth SL2216, the MillenniumHD “data-cine” being controlled by Pandora’s Pogle complete with T3 control panel.
