DVEO, the broadcast division of Computer Modules, will introduce a variety of cost-effective products at NAB (April 20-23, booth SU4908).
DVEO’s new products at NAB 2009 include:
- NCoder HD II: Low latency high-definition MPEG-2 transport stream encoder
- VideoBank HD: Compact, rugged HD H.264 recorder with removable Flash storage
- VGA2ASI: Real-time VGA (720p) to MPEG-2 encoder with ASI out
- Stream Valve IV: MPEG-2 or H.264 playback and capture application
- Virenza: MPEG-2/MPEG-4/H.264 HD decoder and frequency agile satellite receiver
- VideoMirror: Video archival server for MPEG-2/MPEG-4/H.264 transport streams
- HD-SDI Master I PCIe LP and HD-SDI Master O PCIe LP: Single channel HD-SDI input or output cards
NCoder HD II ($15,995): Low latency high-definition MPEG-2 transport stream encoder
NCoder HD II compresses HDMI or HD-SDI video in near real time. The output can be IP (HTTP), DVB-ASI or simultaneous DVB-ASI and IP output. NCoder HD II features very low latency—there is minimal delay between the original video and the compressed video. The normal latency mode is 120 milliseconds, and the low-delay mode is 60 milliseconds. NCoder HD encodes 1080i, 1080p, 1080psf or 720p HD.
“The NCoder HD II started shipping in early 2009. We added HDMI input to our original NCoder HD and put it into a much smaller system. The response from our customers is phenomenal,” says Al Delir, technical support manager for DVEO. “Many customers use NCoder HD II for broadcasting sports and events inside stadiums. It is also ideal for electronic news gathering, HD content sharing and military video surveillance.”
VideoBank HD ($8,995): Compact, rugged HD H.264 recorder with removable Flash storage
VideoBank HD is a rugged high-definition H.264 recorder with removable storage via industry-standard CompactFlash cards. VideoBank HD supports up to 32GB cards, which enables it to record up to two hours of 1080i content in a unit that is 3.3 x 3.3 x 1.6 inches. It features full control via an LCD panel and on-board push buttons.
The system is designed for encoding, decoding and rugged mobile applications where small HD cameras are deployed, such as sports broadcasting, reality TV and electronic news gathering (ENG). VideoBank HD excels in being robust against power loss and file corruption.
VGA2ASI ($7,995): Real-time VGA (720p) to MPEG-2 encoder with ASI out
VGA2ASI encodes any VGA graphics and text from a third-party computer and then modulates it on any desired ASI channel. The output resolution is 720p at 16x9. This combination of technologies is an ideal way to convert computer data to high-definition DVB-ASI for digital signage and information channels. It can be used with existing CCTV systems and coaxial cable to present information on many televisions in public places—such as stadiums, schools, airports, manufacturing plants and hotels.
DVEO also offers VGA converters/encoders in other formats including VGA2DVB-T, VGA2QAM, VGA2IP and VGAto8VSB.
Stream Valve IV ($1,495): MPEG-2 or H.264 playback and capture application
Stream Valve IV gives broadcasters and content providers a quick way to analyze, capture, filter, play and view single- and multi-program HD, MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC (MPEG-4 Part 10) transport streams. This new version of DVEO’s popular StreamValve III software features an advanced playback scheduler to play transport streams daily, weekly, monthly or once only.
Stream Valve IV includes a transport stream analyzer and video viewer, plus the capability to filter out selected PIDs (packet identifiers) that users don’t wish to record. The software also offers remote management, which allows users to record, start, stop or play via a remote Web browser. StreamValve IV supports DVB-ASI and SDI transmit/receive cards, including DVEO’s DVB Master and SDI Master products.
Virenza ($4,495): MPEG-2/MPEG-4/H.264 HD decoder and frequency agile satellite receiver
Suitable for both the IPTV and broadcast distribution markets, Virenza demodulates all satellite frequencies and decodes both H.264 and MPEG-2 video formats to SMPTE 292 (HD-SDI) or YPrPb at 45Mb/s. It is also a professional H.264 and MPEG-2 HD and SD video decoder with IP, ASI or RF input.
Video inputs can be DVB-S, DVB-S2, DVB-ASI, IP and RF. Video outputs include HD-SDI with embedded audio, SDI, YPrPb, RGB and composite. The system is also available with optional DVB-T/8VSB connectors instead of DVB-S+S2 connectors. Virenza features front-panel controls and remote Web-based management.
VideoMirror ($7,995): Video archival server for MPEG-2/MPEG-4/H.264 transport streams
Designed to archive video streams for future reference, VideoMirror records and stores transport streams for continuous or schedulable playback. The standalone server captures and plays back HD, MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC (MPEG-4 Part 10) streams via DVB interfaces. It also captures and plays back SMPTE 125M files via SMPTE 259M (SDI video) interfaces. Transport streams are stored as a series of files, with the size of each file controlled by setting the number of bytes or the length of time.
VideoMirror includes an advanced playout scheduler, plus a transport stream analyzer and remote Web-based management. In addition to archiving content for broadcasters, the system is also useful for development labs, manufacturing shop floors and trade shows to capture and play back video, or just to continuously play back transport streams on a scheduled basis.
HD-SDI Master I PCIe LP ($995) and HD-SDI Master O PCIe LP ($995): Single channel HD-SDI input or output cards
HD-SDI Master I PCIe LP is a single-channel HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M) input card. HD-SDI Master O PCIe LP is a single-output-channel HD-SDI card. Both cards feature auto standards detection between 720 and 1080. Supported standards include 1080i, 1080p and 720p at 60 Hz and 59.94 Hz rates. Onboard DDR memory buffers data to account for latencies in data transactions on the PCIe bus. The cards include support for Linux or Windows OS, full DirectShow support and field-upgradeable firmware. These cards provide an efficient interface to today’s high-performance PC computers, giving increased flexibility for real-time HD capture or playback.
“We are very pleased to be showing these unique products at NAB 2009,” says Laszlo Zoltan, sales manager for DVEO. “Our product philosophy has always been to provide extremely high quality products at a very reasonable price.”
DVEO will also showcase its line of DVB Master transmit/receive cards, small-form-factor digital HDTV modulator—eYe Catcher—and TVB590 modulator cards for transmitting HD video to multiple monitors.
