MaxT Systems to Showcase Cost-Effective MAXedit Editing Environment at NAB 2009
April 2, 2009

First official showings of MAXcut and MAXreview; additional demos of MAXedit by Bitcentral and Chyron.

Montreal – MaxT Systems Inc., developers of server-based media applications and high-performance storage solutions, announced that it will showcase a new end-to-end collaborative editing environment—based upon its new MAXedit Server Edition—at the 2009 NAB show in Las Vegas (Booth SL11206) from April 18-23, 2009.  NAB will also mark the first official showing of MAXcut and MAXreview, two new modules within the MAXedit Server Edition.

The MAXedit collaborative editing environment ushers in a paradigm shift that frees broadcasters and post facilities from the capital expense and complexity of buying, upgrading, and maintaining expensive HD/SD editing workstations, high-speed networks, and software seats.  As a multi-user, browser-based HD/SD editing solution, MAXedit enables local and remote native format editing of centrally ingested material, thereby reducing project costs by eliminating the need to transport people and tape.  The preview of its new features includes animation support, audio rubber banding, project and team collaboration tools, user-rights management, clip logging, improved media and metadata management, and support for new video formats.

With MAXcut and MAXreview, the MAXedit collaborative editing environment is realized by integrating all aspects of editing—from logging, creating, reviewing and approving to exporting and publishing.  MAXcut gives media professionals a streamlined, flexible editing tool with which to assemble rough cuts and storyboards, share creative editing decisions with team members, and facilitate the review and approval process from any location.  Timelines assembled in MAXcut can be directly exported or further refined by a craft editor in MAXedit.  MAXreview enables creative teams to manage collaborative workflow projects, and review an editor’s timelines and rough cuts from their mobile devices. They can also add comments and frame-by-frame annotations, instantaneously updating the timeline allowing the editor to quickly finish a project in either MAXedit or MAXcut.

With its innovative server-based design and browser-based user interface, MAXedit offers an unmatched ability to perform realtime high-end craft editing from remote locations, as well as the studio, using native, compressed and uncompressed video formats, including P2 and XDCAM tapeless formats.

“The MAXedit environment easily scales up to accommodate users, and gives them the flexibility to work from anywhere anytime—whether they’re performing creative or high-end craft editing,” said John Miller, MaxT’s Vice President of Worldwide Sales.  “In these challenging economic times, when broadcasters and post-production facility owners are seeking to cut costs without compromising quality, the MAXedit editing environment offers significant savings in capital and operating expenses.  It drives down the cost per user to promote a rapid return on investment.”

At its booth, MaxT Systems will also display its standard-setting Sledgehammer high-performance network attached storage (NAS) and versatile video device. Sledgehammer provides a centralized online media repository with maximum sustained realtime streams and built-in media tools, making it an ideal device for any production pipeline.

Also at NAB, show goers will see additional demonstrations of MAXedit by two MaxT Systems’ partners:  Bitcentral, a leading manufacturer of news production and distribution systems in Irvine, CA, and Chyron, a leader in broadcast graphics in Melville, NY. At Booth SU 913, Bitcentral will show MAXedit Server Edition working with its Precis 4.0 News Production System and MaxT’s Sledgehammer NAS.  And at Booth SL 1420, Chyron will demonstrate MAXedit Web Edition integrated with its AXIS web-based graphics creation and composition services. While MAXedit Server Edition works with a local server appliance, MAXedit Web Edition employs a subscription-based online editing service model. Together, MAXedit Web Edition and Chyron AXIS give users an integrated, web-based Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that benefits news, sports, and other productions for traditional and Internet broadcasting.
