LiveCast Revolutionizes TV News with Lightning
May 5, 2009

Las Vegas – LiveCast (www.livecast.com), pioneer in streaming live video from mobile devices, announced the availability of Lightning, a new product poised to revolutionize the television news industry by enabling newsrooms to go live with real-time video from cell phones and other mobile devices without an awkward delay in transmission from the field to the studio. This represents a critical technological breakthrough that has not been previously achieved in the marketplace.

When breaking news hits, high-impact on-air interviews with field reporters can be conducted in real-time via mobile devices. As live video from mobile devices now reaches the performance standards of satellite trucks – both in delivery speed and high definition visual quality – the stage is finally set for live video from cell phones to hit prime-time. Many organizations, including NBC Universal, already rely upon LiveCast to transmit live video instantaneously from the field to the television studio as well as to websites, social media outlets and direct to decision makers.

LiveCast Lightning is a professional enhancement that extends the LiveCast platform by providing low latency (one second on average) live video transmission from mobile devices in the field to broadcast control centers. LiveCast Lightning enables remote field reporters using any IP connection to transmit high quality video and audio immediately, as events unfold.

“We’ve heard continually from our global broadcast customers that they want to go live-to-air in real-time with High Definition output, direct from a mobile phone in the field,” says William Mutual, CEO. “The unveiling of our new Lightning system at NAB this week, which delivers on required live video with one second latency and SDI output, has proven to be right on target with broadcasters.”
