July 1, 2009

For a limited time, CalDigit is continuing its summer of savings with a very special promotion on the HDElement. Buy an HDElement or HDElement expansion unit and get a free CalDigit VR—a value of up to $949.

You’ll get a free CalDigit VR 2TB with the purchase of a 4TB HDElement or a free CalDigit VR 3TB with the purchase of a 6TB HDElement. This offer is good on purchases made at participating CalDigit resellers in the U.S. and Canada from July 1 through Sept. 30, 2009. Participating resellers are: B&H, Tekserve, Carbon Sound and Picture, Create More, Melrose Mac and Powermax.

The CalDigit RAID Card is a flexible hardware RAID solution that supports online migration and expansion. This means you can pay as your business grows and you'll never have to worry about losing your data. The CalDigit RAID Card features an Intel XScale processor, 256MB of fixed cache and battery backup. It supports 100 percent hardware RAID performance and protection for up to four internal drives and 12 externally via the HDElement (an enclosure that contains four drives). The HDElement connects directly to the CalDigit RAID Card through the extremely fast mini-SAS ports on the rear of the card. CalDigit's RAID Shield software makes it easy to manage the complete RAID system and provides advanced event notification.

The CalDigit RAID card has all the innovative technology found in the HDPro, such as ASTT and support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and JBOD. The more drives connected to the CalDigit RAID card, the faster the performance. With just four drives, speeds of up to 245MB/s can be reached with RAID 5 protection; upgrade to 16 drives and the speed increases to 500MB/s. The CalDigit RAID Card and HDElement are completely bootable and even Bootcamp bootable. Several accessories are available for different configurations, making the CalDigit RAID Card and HDElement a flexible and powerful solution.

The CalDigit VR is the the most advanced two drive RAID system in its class, supporting a quadruple interface for easy connectivity (FireWire 400/800, USB 2.0 and eSATA). There is no performance loss when daisy chaining the CalDigit VR using FireWire 800. The CalDigit VR's modular design provides two hot-swappable drive modules and an easy-to-read front LCD. With support for RAID 0, 1 and JBOD, the CalDigit VR can reach speeds of up to 220MB/s. It includes a easy-to-use GUI for configuration and monitoring that supports e-mail notification. The CalDigit VR packs a ton of performance into a small package, making it a truly portable solution.
