Working in conjunction with agency Tribal DDB Amsterdam, Stink Digital created both the rich, visually-led micro-site and the short film "Carousel" that anchor a multi-platform campaign for Philips' CINEMA 21:9 television.
In the short film directed by Adam Berg, the camera moves through an epic "frozen moment": a cops-and-robbers shootout is taking place in a hospital that contains clowns, explosions and plenty of broken glass and bullet casings.
"Carousel" is the centerpiece of the interactive experience. Since the 2:19 film loops, visitors to the micro-site have the option to "spin" through the film’s single take shot repeatedly, to stop on a specific frame, or to watch it at the preordained speed. The film also contains embedded hotspots, which, when triggered, transport the viewer seamlessly from the heavily posted film to a behind-the-scenes version of the same shot.
Awards and Honors
On June 29, the International Advertising Festival at Cannes announced that the top prize, the 2009 Film Grand Prix, was awarded to Tribal DDB Worldwide for "Carousel," created for the debut of Philips' Cinema 21:9 television.
"The Grand Prix is a tremendous honor and acknowledgement from a jury of our most prestigious peers," says Paul Gunning, CEO of Tribal DDB Worldwide. "In partnership with the innovative team at Philips and our production partner, Stink Digital, we proudly accept this recognition of a terrific idea beautifully executed."
Earlier in the week, "Carousel" earned a Silver Lion in the Cyber category.
