Latest camera technology
Brand-new for IBC2009 is the Production Village. Located in Hall 9, the village features a comprehensive display of broadcast and digital cinema cameras, the focal point of which is a hands-on studio where you can touch, feel and experience the state-of-the-art technology that lies in the latest camera equipment. This 'active learning' studio includes four different camera sets in which you can try out camcorders, TV cameras and high-end acquisition movie cameras.

We are all excited about HD-cameras being able to (patially) replace clunky & expensive film cameras for many "movies"-at least for those features that might be called "16mm". In spite of much initial skepticism from theater chains, economic realities are now making VIDEOS possible as FILMS. One of the biggest hurdles has been making clean, crisp video look more like grainy film,i.e., the vaunted 'film look'. Too many manufacturers have simply added a (so-called) 24P setting & called it "film"; but it is not. But ONE camera-maker (Panasonic) has gone way beyond that, adding Dynamic Range Extension to emulate film gamma more closely and the results are pleasing. Hope the Prod. Vill. has some there.
