JMR to Debut FibreStream Shared Workflow System at IBC
September 2, 2009

JMR’s FibreStream RAID system will be featured at IBC 2009 at the RAI in Amsterdam, Hall 7, Stand 14. The system will be streaming multiple HD streams using Apple Final Cut Pro. FibreStream RAID is an appropriate collaborative storage system for small to mid-sized work groups.

FibreStream allows shared volume level storage for Final Cut Pro users and features online expansion capability, an integrated 4-port 4Gb/s Fibre Channel switch, advanced streaming technology and Web-based management. With data transfer rates of 1200 MB/s, the system supports multiple HD and 2K video streams.

The current 3RU product has 16TB capacity (16 1TB SATA-2 disk drives) and is expandable to 256TB via SAS concatenation (two x4 Mini-SAS SFF connectors are standard expansion ports). With four 4Gb FC host connections, the user does not need to invest in external SAN hardware for up to four users. FibreStream operates RAID 0, 1, 4, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD modes and is highly fault tolerant; its Resume on Restart feature rebuilds, media scans and initializes automatically after a power outage and no tools are required for replacement of all functional elements.

FibreStream provides Large LBA support (4KB sector size) for large volumes (2TB to 16TB), and RAID partitioning allows users to increase storage efficiency by providing more LUNs without using lower-capacity RAID groups. The system also provides Write-Cache Flow Control to ensure smooth data streaming.

A command line interface is provided via a serial port to debug, monitor and manage the system without Ethernet access. The system provides temperature monitoring, event logging, a real-time clock and power-on self-test at reboot.

A fully operational demo system will be available for Apple Final Cut Pro users to review and try out at IBC 2009, which takes place Sept. 10-15 in Amsterdam.
