Angenieux Optimo Rouge Lenses’ Optics Complement Large-Format Digital Cameras
September 11, 2009

Thales Angenieux is showing its Optimo Rouge Series of zoom lenses at IBC. Designed by the Academy Award-winning Optimo engineering team, the Optimo Rouge 16-42mm and the Optimo Rouge 30-80mm lenses offer a versatile focal range enhanced by premium optics in a lightweight and compact form.

“The Optimo Rouge lenses have been designed with the next generation of optics that deliver on every level to fully complement the quality of the new large-format HD cameras,” says Dominique Rouchon-Picariello, managing director, Thales Angenieux. “Whether it’s the Optimo 16-42mm Rouge or the 30-80mm Rouge, the lenses are ideal for the most demanding needs, with unmatched reliability and quality.”

The recently introduced Optimo Rouge 16-42mm large-format digital zoom lens features a wide angle position of 16mm (75.4 degrees), a fast aperture of T2.8, calibrated focus marks and no ramping or breathing. In addition, the lightweight (4.2 lb.) PL-mount lens features a unique mechanical design for precise zoom and focus.

The Optimo Rouge 30-80mm is identical in specs, with the exception of the lens zoom ratio of 2.7. Both lenses feature full S35 (31.1mm diagonal) image coverage.

“The new Optimo Rouge lenses are part of Angenieux’s growing family of digital lenses that are redefining value and performance for digital content creation,” adds Rouchon-Picariello. “Our lenses, when combined with the new generation of cameras, form a cost-efficient package and allow cinematographers and videographers to be more expressive with the technology.”

In addition to the Optimo and Optimo Rouge Series, Angenieux offers HD Series cine-style, wide-angle and studio lenses; High Resolution (HR) Series wide-angle and all-purpose ENG lenses (including the economically priced HD-E series); and Studio and Sports/Outside Broadcast (OB) lenses.
