Video Sculpture Bridges the Virtual and Actual at HP's HQ. 

Tronic studio recently unveiled a new digital sculpture/video installation at HP's Palo Alto headquarters. HP commissioned Tronic studio designers Vivian Rosenthal and Jesse Seppi to produce a piece that "transcends technology and creates an experience that embraces the new."

The 60-foot long permanent installation is a manifold of responsive panels made of reinforced fiberglass that "bridges the divide between the virtual and the actual." The installation combines sculpture, animation and interactivity, one side is a beautiful expression of architectural form while the reverse features a syncopated video wall.

"We were commissioned to create a large-scale sculpture and video installation that 'transcends technology and creates an experience that embraces the new' at HP's Palo Alto headquarters. We designed an ever-emerging reality that rides the cutting edge of experiential design expectations," said Jessi Seppi, Tronic, partner and designer.


The permanent installation - a manifold of deployable panels 60 feet-long, with a RFP (reinforced fiberglass) shell derived from CNC milling techniques - bridges the divide between the virtual and the actual. The combination of sculpture and animation in the piece - one side reflects today's architectural language, the other is a syncopated video wall - allows visitors' perceptions to change as a function of time, use and external influences, exemplifying Tronic's ability to create abstract, trans-disciplinary works that filter the spirit of our time.
