The dance hall imagery and animation created by Click 3X for Rihanna's "Rude Boy" music video are too good to stay on the small screen; the pop princess likes them so much, she's using them bigger-than-life in her live show.
"We started with Rihanna's vision of a vibrant pop art video in which she changed personas in almost every scene," says Click 3X's Mark Szumski, the project's creative director. "We drew inspiration from pop icons Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, and we created much of the video's vibrancy with 8-bit video game graphics, hand-drawn animation and scanned Crayola textures."

Click blended low-fi with high-tech. Production involved Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Smoke and Flame, and Maxon Cinema 4D. The black-and-white Keith Haring-inspired section of the video is entirely CG, composited in to look like it was captured on camera.
Fans will see the animation on stage this month, when Rihanna kicks off her world tour to promote the album Rated R.
