Square Zero Creates Live Holograms for Directors' Showcase
July 22, 2010

Square Zero used its expertise in live hologram production for Saatchi & Saatchi's Nothing is Impossible New Directors' Showcase 2010, celebrating the event's 20th year at Cannes Lions Festival.

Square Zero created live holograms to present proceedings at the event. Re-created in holographic form were Richard Myers, who is Saatchi & Saatchi's creative director for global culture, and the late Paul Arden, former executive creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi London, who introduced the New Directors' Showcase back in 1991. Despite his passing away in 2008, Square Zero has enabled Arden to present again two years later.

Square Zero used cutting-edge technology and Musion Systems projection to create the holograms for the showcase. The project's director was Najma Bhatti, a director at SquareZero whose previous projects at the company include the holographic CGI re-creation of ABBA for the ABBAWorld Exhibition. She is director and art director at Square Zero, leading the team on animation projects, stereoscopic 3D and autostereoscopic holographic content, music videos and commercials.

Vicky Godfrey, also Square Zero company director, was the producer on the Nothing is Impossible hologram. She previously produced the Frank Sinatra hologram for Simon Cowell's 50th birthday celebrations.

Animation and visual effects artist was Square Zero's Jonson Jewell.

Square Zero director Najma Bhatti says, "As a director, you can't ask for more in terms of a brief like 'Nothing is Impossible.' It's been fantastic working with Saatchi & Saatchi on this project. We've had a lot of fun creating these holograms, and it's been great to work on such a prestigious event and know our work will have a real impact on the audience. We hope that everyone enjoys seeing Paul present the showcase as much as we've enjoyed making it happen."

Vicky Godfrey, Square Zero director and partner, adds, "Square Zero has been working with holograms for some time, and we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible, and doing the seemingly 'impossible.' We were honored to be invited to play such an exciting part in this year's Cannes Lions Festival; Saatchi & Saatchi is one of the finest creative companies, and we are delighted to be adding them to our portfolio of clients."
