If you're attending this year's NAB, you'll definitely see some new tools—but you'll also be able to attend the Content Theater, a new feature of the conference and exhibition.
A digital screening room used for seminars, panels and discussions, the Content Theater will host production professionals—including directors, visual effects supervisors, broadband producers and mobile distributors—who will explore the creative and technical processes of their recent projects.
Sessions on Monday, April 14, focus on 3D and stereoscopic imaging and exhibition, including a case study on Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D and U2 3D.
Sessions on Tuesday, April 15, include a look at the production and post of Jumper with Director Doug Liman and a conversation with director and producer Barry Sonnenfeld about his ABC series, Pushing Daisies.
Additional Tuesday sessions include "Character Animation: CG Technologies Meet Classic Techniques," presented in association with the Visual Effects Society, and "RED Case Study," featuring filmmakers from a soon-to-be-named motion picture that utilized the new camera from RED Digital Cinema. (Hint: Upcoming films shot with the RED camera include Director Timur Bekmambetov's Wanted, Steven Soderbergh's Guerrilla and The Argentine, and co-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's Game.)
Presentations scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, include "Mobilizing Entertainment," where wireless executives and content creators examine the issues and challenges of producing and monetizing content for small screens; "Turner Sports/NASCAR.com Case Study," an inside look at TrackPass, a real-time, interactive racing platform and fan community, and how it complements the NASCAR broadcast experience; "Crackle Case Study," a discussion of the online network dedicated to the discovery and development of broadband filmmakers; and a conversation with Rob Barnett, president and CEO of My Damn Channel, an independent entertainment site.
